Brett Guthrie Our Congressman

Brett Guthrie was elected Congressman for Kentucky’s Second District in November 2008. He is in his first term in Congress, and serves on the Committee on Education and Labor, and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. Additionally, he is the ranking Republican member of the Subcommittee on Higher Education. Brett is married to the former Beth Clemmons. They have three children: Caroline 16, Robby 14, and Elizabeth 11.
A Commitment to our Community and Country

Brett is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and served as a Field Artillery Officer in the 101st Airborne Division – Air Assault. He also earned a Master’s Degree from Yale University in Public and Private Management. Prior to his election to Congress, Brett was Vice-President of Trace Die Cast, his family’s manufacturing business. The company started with five employees and today employs hundreds of workers. When it comes to creating jobs, has the real world experience and draws on that expertise in Washington.
As a Kentucky State Senator from 1999-2008, Brett served on the Education Committee, the Economic Development, Tourism and Labor Committee, and chaired the Transportation Committee. During his legislative career, Brett has developed an expertise on education issues and received the African American Equity Coalition’s “Children’s Champion” award and the College Board’s “State Education Leader of the Year” award.
